How Gold Keys stays free.
Some links on Gold Keys pay us a commission when you book. Here is what that means for you.
The short version
- Gold Keys is free, and always will be.
- Some links pay us if you book.
- You pay the same price either way.
What is an affiliate link?
A link to a travel company (a hotel, a lounge, a transfer, a car, a boat or an experience) that tells the company you came from Gold Keys. If you then book, the company may pay us a share of what it earns from your booking.
Not every link works this way. Many go straight to the company with no arrangement at all.
Does it cost you more?
No. You pay the company’s normal price, the same as if you had gone to its site yourself. Any commission comes out of what the company makes, not on top of your bill.
How can you tell?
Any link that can pay us leaves Gold Keys through an address starting goldkeys.app/go/. Not all of those pay us. A link without it never does.
The weekly letter also carries a few ads. They are always labelled as ads.
Does it change what we pick?
No. A deal makes the letter or a guide because it is a good deal. A company can’t pay to be included, or to be described more kindly. If the better deal is with a company that pays us nothing, that is the one we show you.
What does the company learn about you?
We add one tag to these links, utm_source=goldkeys, so the company knows the visit came from us. We never add your email address, your name or anything else about you, and we never see your payment details.
When you follow one of these links, the company, or the affiliate network that runs its programme, may set a cookie so it can credit the booking to us. That cookie is theirs, under their own privacy policy.
